count number of 'this'

hi friends, please how to find the count of string variable for example in a line i am consists word 'this' four times. if i sear for this word then it should 4,

The easiest way is to use regular expressions: using System; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; class Test { static void Main() { string line = "This is a line, this is this line and so is this"; string search = "this"; string regExp = @"\b" + search + @"\b"; MatchCollection mc = Regex.Matches(line, regExp, RegexOptions.IgnoreCase); Console.WriteLine("The word '{0}' occurs {1} time(s)", search, mc.Count); Console.ReadKey(); } } The output is: The word 'this' occurs 4 time(s) Note that case is ignored here so 'This' and 'this' are both counted.
