Check database connection - asp.net C# razor syntax

Hello guys,

The code below is a php code that check if the database connection is open :

// Check connection
if ($conn->connect_error) {
die("Connection failed: " . $conn->connect_error);
}
echo "Connected successfully";
?>

I want to do an exact verification but in asp.net c# with razor syntax. my database connection code is below :

var db = Database.Open(client); //client is my connection string defined in my web.config

Since you are posting a PHP code I assumed that you are new to Razor and ASP.NET. I'm pointing you to the link so you will have more references when working with Razor and Web Pages app. When dealing with DB connection, before you reference/use it you SHOULD test your connection string first if it works or not before using it. If you are unsure if it will break your connection then you can use try/catch to handle unexpected errors. The Web Pages framework will ensure that connections opened via the Database helper class are closed and disposed when the current page has finished executing. This is by design. It is also why you rarely see connections explicitly closed in any Web Pages tutorial where the Database helper is used. So all you need to do is call Database.Open in each page. It's the recommended approach.
