Can we use view state in MVC ?

The MVC tries to apply the concept of Http protocol statelessness!! So there should be no viewstate equivalent to that of the asp web forms. However in single page application, aka SPA : you use java script library on client to manage the page and contact the server using Ajax! So it gives the impression. That the viewstate is maintained

no you can't use view state in mvc it is not mvc feautre it was feature of asp.net webforms, insted of this you can use Viewbag,viewdata and tempdata to maintain state

We cannot use viewstate in MVC. View state is used to storing the state of server controls.There are no server controls in MVC so ViewState is not needed. Instead of Viewstate in MVC we can use Viewbag ,viewdata and tempdata. Viewbag -it used for passing data from a controller to view. Viewdata -It is same as view bag , it can also passing the data from a controller to view. tempdata - We use tempdata for transferring data from conttroller to view and view to controller.

In ASP.NET server-side controls work with WebForms, not MVC. MVC doesn't use controls like in ASP.NET untill now. The MVC model is quite different. Using MVC puts the developer much closer to the generated HTML, lends itself more easy to unit testing, and provides a strong separation of concerns between the UI and the code that populates that UI. So to manage the states of controls we have ViewBag,ViewData,TempData in MVC. You ca use any of them to serve your purpose.
