browser window is minimized automatically on closing the pop-up window.

Question

Hi,

In my application, a pop-up window opens on click of button. if i close the pop-up, the main window gets minimized.

the behaviour is seen only on machines having vista OS and IE7.0. is this problem specific to vista?

Please do the needfull.

i am not using special control for closing the window. i am closing the window by clicking on cross button "X" that we have on top-right corner of every window.

Hi, Can you please tell me which control u r using for doing this, means asp:button(server) control or "input type="button"> i.e html(client) control? The solution i have given is for html control.

Hmmm u r right im reloading parent page. ok Now i have made some changes. it may solve ur problem make changes to : function targetopener(mylink, closeme, closeonly) as------------- function targetopener(closeme) { if (! (window.focus && window.opener)) return true; if (closeme) window.close(); return false; } ------------- and call this function in pop-up window as --------- " A visible="true" onclick ="return targetopener(true)">My Page" This will just close to pop up window and nothing will do with parent. that means you are reloading the parent page. in my application on some pages, i'm doing almost same thing. i'm re-opening the parent page on "onunload" event of popup window. on these pages there is no problem. The problem arises where i'm not reloading the parent page.

Hi, The problem you are facing I havent faced on XP or Windows Server 2003-OS. Now, i have created one pop up window using javascript as: ------- function popup(link, name) { if (! window.focus) return true; var href; if (typeof(link) == 'string') href=link; else href=link.href; window.open(href, name, 'width=400,height=200,scrollbars=yes'); return false; } ------ then created one button & on click it returns that function onclick="return popup('PopupWindowExample.htm', 'name') now i have created one html page named "PopupWindowExample.htm". In this page i have added one javascript function which returns me on my main page that is .aspx page ------------- function targetopener(link, closeme, closeonly) { if (! (window.focus && window.opener)) return true; window.opener.focus(); if (! closeonly)window.opener.location.href=link.href; if (closeme)window.close(); return false; } ------- and i called this function on a link as " A HREF="Default.aspx" onClick="return targetopener(this,true)">main page" ---- now this takes me on my main page and not having any problem. if this solves ur problem then good if not then ..... it might be due to vista os ... Hi, Javascript on the page or some specific function? can you please elaborate on this point? the behaviour of these popup windows is different for every version of the Vista OS. Thanks for your suggestion.

Pop-up window problem is mostly browser problem and occures due to some javascript on that page.
