What is the difference between TcpBinding and HttpDualBinding for Callback in WCF?

Hi, NetTcpBinding This binding provides secure and reliable binding environment for .Net to .Net cross machine communication. By default it creates communication stack using WS-ReliableMessaging protocol for reliability, TCP for message delivery and windows security for message and authentication at run time. It uses TCP protocol and provides support for security, transaction and reliability. WSDualHttpBinding This binding is same as that of WSHttpBinding, except it supports duplex service. Duplex service is a service which uses duplex message pattern, which allows service to communicate with client via callback. In WSDualHttpBinding reliable sessions are enabled by default. Sudhir as per my understanding I am trying to explain NetTcpBinding & WsDualHttpBinding. So please once go through below. NetTcpBinding netTcpBinding is best when WCF service and its clients are in intranet infrastructure. As it supports only TCP protocol and not HTTP so service cannot be accessed over internet. This is secure binding is used to send binary encoded SOAP messages with in intranet computers. It supports reliability, transaction and security. If your using netTcpBinding and host WCF service in IIS, you need to make some settings on system and IIS this article will help you for required settings. WsDualHttpBinding wsDualHttpBinding is best when you required bidirectional communication with client. In some scenario when client makes call to WCF service, after processing of long running request service has to call client application for example updating shipment details to client application. It supports reliability, transactions and security over internet. It supports HTTP or HTTPS protocols and text as well as MTOM encoding. You can implement Duplex message exchange pattern with WsDualHttpBinding. If this is helpful for you then please accept my Answer .

NetTcpBinding This binding is suitable when you are hosting your service in intranet. It supports only TCP protocol so it doesn't over internet. Secondly it transfers data in binary SOAP encoded format with intranet computers. DualHttpBinding Dual means two ways binding. Means first client will call the service and service perform its action then call back to client. It supports HTTP and HTTPS also , so it will perfect with internet. As per question CallBack is possible by both the bindings. If you are accessing the service through internet then DualHttpBinding. On the other hand if you are hosting your service in intranet then NetTcpBinding is best. Choose as per your scenario.
