Question

how to perform validations in mvc if there is no database attached only ado.net coding is there. e.g. if a textbox is empty then no record should inserted and error message appears how to do that

What you want is input validation, it's irrespective of your code in database side. Input validation in MVC is super easy, it's done via Required attribute which is placed on top of your class's property (view model class). Just create a new MVC project in VS 2015 or VS 2017, go to register page, it has example of how to do input required validation for email and password and how to show validation summary message as well. This is what you write in view to show validation message: @Html.ValidationSummary("", new { @class = "text-danger" }) This is what you write in your class: [Required] [EmailAddress] [Display(Name = "Email" )] public string Email { get ; set ; }

nothing happens i have tried what you said. i will make you clear i am created a function for insert establish all things in it and add required attribute to my model but nothing happens.if i left textbox empty then code error said parameterized query except the parameter "@SomePara" which was not supplied but no validation is working.my vs version is 2013
