Architect Path

Question

Currently I am a principal software engineer. I have hands on windows app and services. I want to be an architect. So, what should I pursue next? Should I start looking into latest web technologies too?

Hello imran, If you want to be architect you must have 1) Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience because companies will offer position depends on your experience. 2) You have to know all the responsibities / expectations of being software architect and how to handle/manage these. Still if your yet to learn few things you can learn. 3) Update your knowledge(which you yet to learn) as you said web technologies(angular or react). Also learn mobile app dev, additional languages like python atleast because you have to consider new learning based on what technologies are have demand in software industry currently. you can take training online i recommend Mosh Hamedani trainer. 4) There are many window developers became architect you don't have to worry much but if you update your knowledge it will help you 100% because when employee become architect he need to handle team or teams depends on company when its team or teams whatever it but there will be projects(existing and new) with different technologies(winforms, web, mob and different langauges will be used like C++, C#, python etc(depends)) so when your team engineer faces any technical issues he or she will check with senior engineer if not resolved then tech lead has to solve if not resolved by tech lead then architect has to provide solution so by keeping this in mind you have to learn more.
