Hi All,

Today, i created my first new domain http://ssnair.net/.
Before developing a home page, i like to share my self-made project here (kind of open source).

Ajax Control ToolKit HTMLEditor with Syntax Highlighter

We have a lots of HTML Editor with Syntax Highlighter available on internet, but thought of creating a new one.

simpleEditor no longer available now.. I lost my couple of projects due to domain movement to another host. forgot to take the backup. closing the thread...

I copied the code you provided. I clicked the "Paste Plain Text" icon. I get a message saying "Plain text pasting is switched on. Just now: Use Ctrl-V". So I use Ctrl-v and the code is pasted. Then I select the code and set the language to C# and click the Insert Code icon. The editor window is cleared and I see nothing in the output. So then I do the same thing except before clicking on Show Output I click on the HTML Text button to see the HTML. Then when I Show Output, it works; at least I think it does. I see output that looks correct. So perhaps there is something that needs to be finished or disposed or closed or something like that.

Using latest versions IE 9, FF 4, GC 11 and working.. But not with SeaMonkey Can just paste below code lines as plain text (icon click) in editor and select c# as language and "Show Output" protected void btn1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { } Or, paste the code you are trying so i can have a look..

IE 9 still does not work for me. I cannot paste anything, whether I use the icon or I use Shift-Ins. I can paste if I use Ctrl-V. The "Insert Code" icon does not work either, so that is far as I got. What version of IE are you using? Chrome works great except in the output there are some div tags that I assume should not appear.

It seems, does not work with SeaMonkey. Chrome/IE/and FireFox working for me, i tried on another system also. waiting for more updates.

I used IE 9; the latest version. For it, at least the Show Output works. Using SeaMonkey the Plain Text and Insert Code worked but the Show Output did not; Show Output did nothing except reset the contents of the editor. Using Chrome everything seems to work except when I use Show Output I see HTML instead of formatted output.

Thanks a lot Sam, Which browser you are using. Did you follow exact the same way i mentioned in "Help" section. I tested it with latest versions of Chrome, FF and IE8. When you click on the paste, code button, in background the texts get appended by some html tags. You can view the html's from the tool bar itself. (bottom toolbar of Editor - three buttons - Design, HTML, Preview) On click of button (Output) the code get highlighted. I know a lots of bugs will be there.

Thank you; it is a good start. I think the buttons to insert plain text and insert code do not work; I cannot get them to do anything. Also, there is one thing that is a big challenge. This is something that many other forums have problems with. If we navigate away from the page (such as click a link) while editing and without closing the editor page, all the text is lost when we go back to the page using the back button or such. It is too easy to do. So the best solution is to be able to save the text so it is still there but you could at least issue a warning. Note that the current editor such as what I am using now will also lose everything if I go to some other page while editing and then return here.
