A question about WPF...

I am 65 old man with very passion about computers and programming and I'm study WPF to improve my skills. I would like now what you think about this...

Desktop App with WPF In addition to first and second answer, i would like to put more light on programing. 1. Desktop Apps are not http based, there are just internal calls until you use any web API in your app. so, you can't jump from desktop to web quickly. They are two very different things. 2. WPF consists of two things UI (XAML not HTML/Drag drop controls, though you can drag drop but please avoid it) + MVVM architecture (yes, you can simply use code behind but again please avoid it and use MVVM only even for simple app) so, for WPF you need to learn 2 things XAML MVVM pattern that includes command Pattern internally. Web Apps:- .NET has evolved a lot in recent 6 years, now it is cross platform for both desktop and web. As client side languages are growing with a rocket speed , Microsoft has launched Blazor , meaning now your .NET code can run on browser using web assembly. WEB API and ASP.NET MVC are now unified meaning, Doesn't matter you choose which project template you can switch between the two by just using some attribute above your method/controller. There is a baby brother of MVC launched called Razor pages , you must be aware of Web Forms so it will look as if you Microsoft again back to web form era with this, but this is not the case, Razor pages are pure MVC thing. you would know when you will start learning it. Angular/React + .NET Core API => This is currently the favourite among web developers. Azure/AWS => As a web developer i can say, without the knowledge of cloud computing you can't be in market for long. Mobile Apps Xamrine is the technology that you will need to learn if you are interseted in .NET and Mobile apps. so, .NET is huge , and you need a proper planning before you start learning, with clear vision that where you want to go with this.

Well.. WPF is not a programming language, It is just a free and open-source graphical subsystem originally developed by Microsoft for rendering user interfaces in Windows-based applications. It will helps you, If you are intrested to develop Windows-based application for yourself or any company. in addition to first answer, you need to define your goal first, that is very important at this stage, If you want to go with any programming language then choose that and explore in that way. What is your goal? If you're learning to create some apps for yourself, WPF is great. However, WPF is not something many companies are hiring for.
