Barret wears many hats: Father, husband, Microsoft MVP, Azure Solutions Architect, gamer, blogger, speaker, teacher, model railroader, Buckeyes fan, and more. When he's not doing all that, he occasionally finds the time to write some code. Barret is a mid-career changer, escaping the pain of a retail management life in his 30s to land in the world of his true love: software development, where he's spent the last nearly 20 years slinging code and managing teams of developers. Recently he stepped away from management to take up a full-time Azure Solutions Architect role. He also serves on the board of directors for the JavaScript & Friends developer conference in Columbus Ohio. In January of this year, he was awarded a Microsoft MVP award for Business Applications.
