In this article we can explore the answers to the following:
- How to enable Anonymous Access to a site
- Should we add All Users with Write Permissions?
- Is Central Administration required to allow Anonymous Users?
I am trying to answer all these questions. Please use the following procedure to solve the problem.
Open Central Administration.
Go to "Manage web applications" -> "Authentication Providers".
![Authentication Provider]()
In the dialog that appears, click on the "Default" zone. You will get the following dialog.
![Authentication Types]()
Check the "Enable anonymous access" check box and click the "OK" button.
Now go to "Manage web applications" -> "Anonymous Policy".
![Anonymous Policy]()
Make sure the Default zone policy is set to "None" as shown below.
![Default Zone Policy]()
Open Site Collection
Now open your "Site Collection" -> "Site Permissions" page.
![Site Permissions page]()
You will be able to see a new Ribbon Button named Anonymous Access. Click the button and in the dialog that appears, allow anonymous access to the Entire Web site as shown below.
![Anonymous Access]()
Click the "Ok" button to save the changes. Now your site is ready with Anonymous Access.
Testing Anonymous Access
Open a new browser instance and enter the URL of your site. You should not be prompted for login and please note the page is rendered with a "Sign In" link on the top-right corner.
![Testing Anonymous Access]()
This confirms that Anonymous Access is enabled.
